Your SPIRIT is the real YOU. You are a SPIRIT living through a physical body. Your SPIRIT animates your physical body. Without your SPIRIT your physical body is dead.
The SPIRITUAL part of you has LIFE. It is this LIFE that has consciousness, individuality, intellect, emotions and the place where all of your memories are stored.
Your BRAIN is merely the ‘computer chip’ which your SPIRIT uses to perform all of the animations that your SPIRIT wants to be executed, including the WORDS that your SPIRIT speaks. Your SPIRIT provides the POWER needed by your BRAIN to function. Damage to your brain minimizes the ability of your SPIRIT to animate your physical body fully.
It is your SPIRIT that enables your physical body to walk and shop in a supermarket or to drive a car or to lay out a garden or swing a golf club.
Your SPIRIT has an EXECUTIVE component – your MIND. Your SPIRITUAL MIND is the decision maker of your SPIRIT. The MIND of your SPIRIT is responsible for good or for evil, for righteousness or for wickedness. That’s why the Bible states , “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” (Romans 12:2)
You, your SPIRIT, cannot live on this earth without a physical body. God designed you that way. Your SPIRIT will either go to heaven or to that other place once your physical body succumbs to the ravages of earthly life.
It is all up to you, your SPIRIT, to decide where you want to go. The MIND of your SPIRIT can make that decision at the foot of the Cross of Jesus Christ where you will hear, “… I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6)
